I was watching Car and Driver Television on Spike TV a couple weeks ago and saw the 2006 Eclipse from the spy shots. That thing is ugly. It's huge.....cause it's based on the new galant platform or something, so it's not a sport compact anymore. It's bulky and just not sporty in any way. They killed the eclipse by redesigning it again. The 2nd and 3rd gens are beautiful cars, but man, the 2006 is gonna ruin the eclipses reputation. Have ya'll seen pics of it yet? If so, what's ya'll opinions on it?

I have no clue what you are saying! I think it looks like a 2g with attitude.
supercars has had these pics for at leat a year and it is now a hybred but still goes 180mph http://www.supercars.net/cars/2004@$...oncept-Ex.html I rather like the look of it and am looking forward to it.

 

and remember, it is a concept, that doesnt mean it will look exactly like that......... im not sure about the body style, but i love the idea of the hybrid powertrain, wish my car had an instant 200 more hp when i floored it.................

 

Honestly this body style looks nice. It's futuristic looking and still has that look of an eclipse. I don't know, I think Mitsubishi kind of screwed up with the body style the past few years, so now they are making up for it. I prefer the the 96-99 body style myself. That's just me though.

 

wasnt g2 95-99? i thought it was not 96-99.

 

My bad, it is 95-99, 96 is the first year that the spyder came out.

 

Will Mitsubishi still be in business by that time, I think they only have 2 years left till they run out of funding.

Could you imagine that? Even if Mitsubishi does change the looks of the eclipse for '06,
at least Dodge's Stratus coupe and Chrysler's Sebring coupe will still have the shape of
the 3rd gen eclipse.

 

It looks like a Tommy Kaira ZZ from the side. But yeah, it's way out there in the looks department. Atleast the C-pillar kinda almost maybe emulates the 2g's roofline....a little. Mitsubishi is retarded, if they had brought over the Evo before Subaru bought over it's WRX, then maybe they might have had a chance. Plus they screwed up partnering with dodge. I like Dodge and all, but c'mon....Dodge? Remember Married with Children? The "Chariot of a Shoe Salesman", Yeah....
