Well.... you mention that youre fuel is gettin there, and its getting a spark... but no mention of whether its getting all the air it needs... BTW is it a 420a or a 4g63?

420a and paintball, Dusty.
Timing sounds off, whether it be ignition timing or base timing. Try not to rush this because things can get really annoying when dealing with the motor.
What was the issue with the spark paintball?

I say to check the timing, base and ignition, because the intake valve is open while the fuel/air is still in it's "explosion" or fire phase. It can be preignition or knock, but it's hard to tell because we don't know all the variables or how exactly the intake is popping.
Here's what I see on my end....you have fuel, spark, air, and compression. Have you checked your firewall relays or even changed them out?
This is why I say it's timing related.
BTW, your friend is a meathead for trying to make the plug arc on an aluminum valve cover. You're supposed to arc it on a bolt ON the valve cover and not the actual valve cover, lol. Anything that you can take an mulitmeter to and have continuity is a good spot (the manifold for example). Aluminum won't give a reading in this, lol.
