Default Clutch master cylinder

Hi all,
1997 Spyder, 2.4, non-turbo. The fluid that is used in the clutch master cylinder (brake fluid??) is leaking into the inside of my car. So, would I be correct that the back side (firewall side) of the clutch master cylinder is the place where it would be leaking? And the solution is to replace the clutch master cylinder? It's definitely the fluid from the clutch, not the brakes. Just want to make sure that there isn't a simpler quick fix other than replacing the clutch master cylinder and that if the fluid is coming into the inside of the car, then that would be what's leaking.

I have a 1997 Eclipse RS 2.0L no turbo... i just replaced my clutch master cylinder a little while ago and had the same problem... that fixed it... so yes replacing that CMC will fix that... but the main reason i had replaced mine was because it was hanging up and not letting the clutch engage completely so i had to replace it... i cost me about 90 bucks for the part but the results afterwards were amazing, especially compared to when your used to driving a car with the clutch slipping

It doesn't look like it's too hard to replace or to get to. Was it? Did you do it yourself? Any tricks I should know of? Any techniques for bleeding the system? (yes, I need to buy a repair manual) [IMG][/IMG]

Speed bleeder will help you if yo are by yourself. If not get a buddy to help you bleed it like any normal clutch.

You are correct about the fluid being brake fluid, and replacing you MC is probly your best bet.

1 more piece of advice for you, save yourself the trouble, spend the extra $20 an get the new MC from the dealer. I did my master and slave at the same time and bought them from NAPA only to find out that both of them were like 1/2 an inch shorter than they were supposed to be and I couldnt adjust the clutch right. I went back but they assured me it was the right one so i jus returned them an went to the dealer. the rest was a breeze.
