Hey there, after i got this eclipse there has been problem after problem. So now to get some help. My issue just arised recently. I can
accelerate from a stop and the car will pull in every gear no powerloss. But if i back off the throttle and just cruise in any gear. The car loses
its power and at the same time the exhuast sound changes. Goes from a nice low rumble or what ever you call it to some gurgling sound.
During this time if I try to accel, the car barely accel. I would have to shift in to neutral then back into gear and i can accelerate again but as
soon as i start to cruise. The symptons comes back. N e guesses.. Miss fire? dont mine my bad grammar and english

 

when you accelerate does your engine sound likes its reving high but you aren't really gaining n e speed?

 

Its when i am crusing. the exhaust sound changes and if i accel there like no power it doesnt' even want to rev up.. but it does slowly. But if i am cruising and there is no change in exhaust sound then there no problem i can rev it how ever i like. The change in exhaust is due to something going on in the engine . It sounds as almost like shifting into neutral while driving. its a drastic sound change. My check engine light is on but it was on before all of this. And it has to do with the emissions evap something.

 

Check for any boost leaks.

 

hum.. how would i go about checkin for leaks.. just listen for hissing sound .. really new at this LOL. but wouldn't boost leak have an affect on the car all the time. cuz it only happens when i cruise. if i am constantly accelerating or changing gear. there no problem . its just when i cruise at a set pace.
But i am new to this so if u can point me in the direction of instruction on checking leaks, u would make me a happy man.

 

auto tranny?

if so then i would have it looked at. sounds like its not shifting down to the correct gear. manual tranny.. have compression checked and also check your coil pack. connections from the ECU to the coil pack. and wiring from the battery to the ECU. the wiring itself would cause the ecu to not 'read' the increase in gas and cause it to stay in the gear its in.

 

i was kinda leaning toward the boost leak as well because it only happens at the low rpm's or idle which is where a leak will affect the car. What year is the car. If its a 95-99 then the most common problem will be with the stock plastic BOV. Those are known for being a POS.

 

its a 98 Gsx manual, greedy BOV. Yah maybe its the coils. The car was fine a week ago then started acting up recently. i can get around in it just that when i am crusing on the road or highway. If i want to pass i would have to take it out of gear then put it back in to accel. During accel its fine no problem.
Its when i stop accelerating and resume curising. One question turbo oil return line on my Ev0 16g is leakin. Could i replace the line and fitting with the stock oil return, or would i need the specific one. Thanks

 

i dont really know but you better change that line pretty soon because if you dont youll be like me rebuilding the motor because you ran it ourt of oil.
