HID Lighting

RE: HID Lighting
The kit that you get has absolutely nothing to do with the glare that you give to oncoming traffic. What DOES matter is the type of bulb that comes with the kit, a D2S or D2R. The D2S bulb when put into a stock headlight will tend to glare a LOT because that bulb was meant specifically for projectors (not the ebay projectors either, even though they do work somewhat). If you are going to be getting HID in your stock headlamps, be sure to get a kit that comes with the D2R bulb, which is most likely does, these bulbs have a partial "coating" on the bulb that helps block out much of the extra glare, because the D2R bulb was designed for reflector HID applications.
I have a friend who has a mid 90's model Prelude and drive with him all the time, he has the McCulloch 6000K HID kit with D2R bulbs and when I am looking at his car head on I can see no more glare than I would a typical halogen beam, the light just obviously appears white/blueish. I am going to be getting the same kit as him with the D2R bulbs.
Another thing you should know. If you want to do the HID project completely "correct" you could buy projectors from a BMW, blah blah blah all those cars that have HID projectors stock. Then you can retrofit these projectors into you stock headlight assembly. You would then need to buy a 2 oem ballasts and ignitors to get the system up and running and do some wiring. The great thing about the kits are that they just plug directly into your stock headlights and you are good to go!
If you want, do some more research on your project over here at HIDplanet.com, you will learn a lot, trust me.
