Has any one fixed a "walking crank" or "crank walk" or know how much does it cost to repair the problem and does it work and last ??

 

you have to replace the crank and bearings.....and i think another parts but i can't remember what its called. the engine will have to be torn apart so you will be looking at some hefty install charges.

 

thyere are a lot of variables. You could replace the crank and bearings, but after parts and labor expect ~$2500 and it will most likely come back again soon. You can swap the motor as well. Find a used one for anywhere from $200-800 adn after install probly ~$2000. Or you could (reccomended) find a used motor, put in new pistins, new crank, get the head ported/polished, new valvetrain, and maybe even a new clutch. You have a completely new motor for ~$4000-5000

 

its not worth trying to fix crank walk. just go out and buy a used motor and build the **** out of it.

 

is it common thing to get the crank walk ???on 2nd gens ???what causes it ?????

 

no offense but If ur smart enough ull buy a new engine right?? why spend freakin 5000 dollars on some bull**** price while you can get them in EBAY and I ASSure You Ull bE definetly find Ur "SAME" engine iN A LOT inexpensive price. (knock, knock)

[X(]man am starting to have second thoughts on buying a eclipse sounds like am gonna put alot TLC to make it run just buyin the car cost me around 5k and putting another 5k to make it run properly is gsx worth it ??

 

GSX I think are more prone to walk because they take more stress when launched. Either way a DSM needs the TLC

 

What about gst how likely are they to have a "crank walk" problem
