spark check. need advice.
IlHello. New to site. But not new eclipse owner. On third one. Well heres my problem. Im trying to check for spark and doing as the haynes manual says to check coil connector.my test light stays lit while cranking engine, does not blink. What sign is this to check next.car does not want to start. Backfires a bit thats it. Any help thanks

you will need an led test light or oscilloscope, the interrupt signal is very short (cyls x rpm x 2)
or turn the engine by hand.
Since the cas measures out of spec, thats a good place to start.
Im assuming you have no spark..?

depends where it comes from you can try a flying hot lead, but the ecu might not be happy about it.
Does it measure 12 when it IS connected?
Does the batt measure 12? Does another hot wire close by?
Does that lead come from/to an igniter unit?

Well i did some more checking on car and i unplugged cam sensor and i was going to check voltage while cranking. Well it started up. Is that normal? Plugged it back up and wont start. Tried unplugged and it starts. Any thoughts on this one.. thanks.

kidding. Dont do that. Youll probably loose your timing advance.
Dont know what cas you run, photooptic or whut, id try getting a replacement...see if it works. If not its something upstream.
Altho... Light stays lit... The interrupt is going to ground, probably through the cas...?
