It sounds like your timing is off, I would reccomend checking all of your timing marks (CAMs, crank, balance shaft) if you only did your timing belt then that Has to be the problem

RE: timing belt
well when i did it my head gasket was leaking so i figured while i was there i would replace the timing belt water pump and balence shaft belt( which was actually all f'ed up in there) i know the head gasket isnt leaking so if it was off on mark that would cause it to run at low rpms. i know when i set it up the cams, bal saf, and oil was all lined up perfectaly but the crank i couldnt figure out.

RE: timing belt
I would most definently not run the car ANYMORE if you have no idea where the balence shaft is in terms of timing. Look on that Vfaq page and pick up a repair manual at the auto parts store. All of the timings HAVE to be perfect.

RE: timing belt
Can you post pics of the timing marks on the timing belt and balance shaft belt? You probably have the b/s off. And just like dorian7 said checkvfaq.com and make sure you have the b/s timed right and not off 180*.
