And on that note, I'm not necessarily looking for a "true sports car". As I said I drove a 2000 Eclipse GT for 3 years and I loved it. It would just be nice if Mitsu could get more power out of the 3.8 V6 they are putting into the new Eclipse.

I dont know if they are still doing it but the orignal plan was to make it a hybred so when u mash it the v6 will kick on and when cruzing it would be electrical here is a site that has this Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept-E now im not 100% sure on the new one. the 350Z has only 280hp it is 20 hp differance between the 350Z and the new eclipse. depending on weight they may be an evan match. 350Z

One differance i did see is the eclipse is a SOHC and the 350Z is a DOHC

All the Z's have 300 hp whether it's listed on the specs that way or not. In the beginning Nissan was sandbagging the HP numbers of the Z to keep it under 300. Yes, the SOHC vs. DOHC could be the reason for the lower hp on the new Eclipse. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how much the final prodction cars weighs and see some real road tests. Either way I will test drive one once the initial craze is over.

no Z has 287HP listed right on nissans website not 300!Nissans 350Z page
the only ones that have 300HP is the Track and 35 anniversary edition costing 34-37 Grand.
the 350Z were dyno tested to have 280.

Mitsubishi makes good cars and it's just a shame that their best performer is a 4-door 4-banger grocery getter that only my Mom would drive. I'm not trying to offend all the rally guys out there, the Evo has it's place. I'm just saying that Mitsu needs a small 2-door sports car that can hang with the competition. I don't want a 4-door box-on-wheels. I want a high performance 2 seater or a 2+2 hatchback sports coupe.

Thats the stupiest comment i have ever read. I dont care whether or not you like 4-door cars, but
a) people in their 20's drive evo's who crave performance, i have yet to see a mom driving one
b) you think mitsu needs a sports car to hang with competition, you obvioulsy have no idea what you're talking about, since an evo can keep up with a murcialago around a track
c) you say 1/2 of buying a car is performance and functionality, exactly how functional is a 2 seater that cant fit **** in it??

sounds like you'd want something gay like a miata or a bmw z3. It'l be slow as hell, but at least its a 2 seater right?

It seems that this is a juvenile forum. I will stick with other forums with more knowledgeable users from now on. I was looking for some insightful comments on the engine choice by Mitsu in the new Eclipse not a bunch of snotty comments.

you make ignorant comments and you'll get very similar responses no matter which forum you go to.

Yep like they say ask a stupid question get a stupid answer. Make a stupid comment get the same in return. Feel free to remain on the other forums with your "knowledgable people" and feel free to reduce THIER IQ's instead of ours.
