Default Daughter's 2002 Eclipse stopped running

April 4,2008 My wife and I helped our daughter buy her first car ,a 2002 Eclipse GT with a automatic v-6 and 65,00 miles on itin very good condition about 6 months ago.
As she was driving it last night(rainy) it just died on her and she had to have it towed home.
I asked her if she ran though any deep water that may have killed it and she replied that she had not.I tried to start it today and it turns over fine , but does'nt even sound like its trying to start. Any ideas to troubleshoot? Fuses, relays, fuel pump, coil, etc.

April 6,2008 It did it again! Rainy day, daughter drove it ,ran fine ,parked it ,now it won't start again.....WTF! I'm planning on replacing the cap, wires and plugs but it seems like there is something else going on here. I knew we should have gotten her a Jeep Cherokee.......At least I could fit under it to work on it.

Had the car towed home, checked for spark and it had none. I guess I'll pull the distributor cap off and check for problems there first. I've been planning on buying an OBD2 scan tool for troubleshooting problems and making repairs anyway. Would this problem show up on the scantool?

well worst case senario, when was the T belt done if ever? if that slipped or snapped the car will turn but not start because it will not hold compression because it will cause the valves to hit the pistons and bend.

Now on to the other things it could be. My 01 Sporty GT spyder did this a few weeks ago im at 83k and the car would not start at all it was also a rainy day. I had to leave my foot on the gas will cranking it over and it finally started but was misfiring like a ****, ended up being the plug were bad and the wires were bad. the wires were shorting from condensation

After posting I went out and tried to start it after it sat all day and it still would not start, so I pulled some fuses and checked the fusable links without finding anything amiss. I pulled a plug and had my daughter crank it over while I observed and not only did it have spark it tried to start! I put the wire back on the plug and it started right up!!!!!!!! I guess it was either wet or it missed her................................It has the v-6 ,and I was wondering how do I get to the distributor cap, wires, plugs, etc as they all seemed to be hidden pretty well.

On the GT V6 the distributor cap and rotor button are located on the side of the motor on the drivers side. you will have to remove the battery, the battery plate that it sits on and the air intake. (not the intake manifold) and you will see it right there.
