is a 4G worth it?

is a 4G worth it?
I just sold my 95 GSX and was thinking of buyng a 4g. I was looking at rippmods and they were talking about a new header for the 4G. will the clutch and drive train hold up to any mods? is this motor good, or will it take a dump like the 4G63 2g?How much power has been put in to this car? Can you use a SAFC on this car to tune with?

RE: is a 4G worth it?
the motor is more reliable because its not a dsm
But about turbo and such, i do think someone makes a turbo kit for it, so it must be able to handle a little pressure.
From what i hear, those cars are fatties, and well...theyre just kinda heavy, so it takes a lot of energy to move a big car like that. Ive never been in a stock one so i dont know how fast they are

I dumped my 2g cause it would take about 15 Gs to get it to where I wanted it: 500 HP.

NVM, I see that your 4g63 took a dump on you. So, you're adding parts and rebuild. Sorry to hear about that.
..but seriously, like Jeff said, 4Gs are pigs. Not really a bad thing, but for performance, it doesn't help.

RE: is a 4G worth it?
The 4g eclipse are fast consider they are FWD and because of that they spin off the line, so without suspension mods to get much better number in the 1/4 you need to do them, also there is no bolt turbo yet, but there is a SC that is bolt on, Trust me I have the same motor on my galant and have been looking for mods, and there are some out to get you to about 400-450 WHP, but without suspension mods, your 1/4 mile isn't gunna get to much better due to the fact that you are jsut gunna spin more, but check out http://www.club4geclipse.com/forum25...b1f3c999cd0fa3to get the info you are looking, but it is a good place to start if you are looking for a monster, also you may wanna wait and see if the do the eclipse ralliart, there is strong talks from the dealer that they might make it, and it would be AWD, but might be less HP then the evo just have to wait and see.

RE: is a 4G worth it?
4,500 for a rebuilt 4G63 with the 2.3 stroker kit
1,500 for the mach V rebuilt head
5,000 for shep transmission
1,200 for an FP green turbo
install at a shop cause I do not have the room to do it myself
I do not expect to get 500 HP out of my 4G
the 2G motor crank walks, I wouldnt spend money fixing a 2g motor up. It would have to be a 1G. I did have a FP T 28 on my car ( 360 HP )
Thank you for your help. I never expected to get the performance out of my 4G that I could out of my 2G, I did however expect to have to payless with my 4G due to it being newer and nnot having to replace old worn out parts or having to deal with an AWD unit that will keep needing new parts. I loved my GSX but it was time to move on
