Own an '07 Spyder and have had to takeit to the dealer twice already for squeaky brakes. WTF? I paid 26g's forthis car and Mitshubishi can't come up with a brake pad composite that does notsweak like hell?Anyone having this problem? If I use aftermarket pads or try to get them to use them they say they can't install them because they are not OEM.Any ideas?

 

I would take the noise as a good sign. It means they are a hard compound and you can beat on them all you want.

 

I had the same problem with my '06. The dealer did not help it much. Go buy a can of synthetic brake grease and apply it to the brake harware, but make sure you clean all the hardware up good. DO NOT get the grease on the pad linings or rotor. No more squeal

 

Many other vehicles I've worked on have it too. Nothing wrong it means you have some quality pads and if you do drive a gravel road that can do it too. I believe it may be ceramic pads that do it the most or metallic.
Your ok dude just annoying maybe next replacement get a medium quality.

 

I use to have a squeal problem several years ago with my motorcycle brakes. Someone told me about a product called De-squeal. That squeal is caused by vibration usually the back of the brake pad against the caliper/housing. I started using it on my motorcycles and car brakes. Never had another squeal even from the ceramic pads. If the back of the pads is slightly rough or pebbled smooth it on some sandpaper. Put de-squeal on the pad where it might make contact with caliper parts and carefully install the pads into the caliper. This stuff appears to be a thick silicone gel that stays a little soft buffering the vibrations, so no squeal. It's cheap, and has never failed on several bikes and cars/trucks. Most auto stores sell it.
