Im hoping to move to Hawaii soon. I just learned that there is no emission standards there either. That pretty much means any aftermarket part is legal. Oh and I have Test Drive: Unlimited...its a map of Oahu btw. Well, hope me, my wife, and my 99 GST are able to have our plans fulfilled and join you DSM'ers out there.

You are correct, there's no emission test here, but if you have any mods done to your car, you should get a reconstitution test done (recon test). If your car is lowered, if you have aftermarket rims, only 35% all the way around is legal here and no windshield strip is allow below the "AS1" line, I hope you don't have a loud exhaust as cops hate that (unless you have a harley or a V8), you have to have at least one set of amber reflectors up front (no completely clear front ends here), make sure to state all your mods and passing will be a breeze.
It's not as bad as Cali, but Hawaii does copy Cali's laws.
Man, I make having a car here dismal, lol. It's not though. Well, except for the fact that there isn't a track here anymore.

Modded cars do get hassled, because not every modded car has had the recon test done and those are the guys they're trying to weed out. I haven't gotten pulled over yet, but I have had cops tailing me for a short period of time here and there. I'm pretty sure of what they're doing but my car is legit. I also slowly accelerate just so they don't get me for having a "loud" exhaust.

Oh, my buddy with a stock exterior EVO 8 did get pulled over and was cited for having a "big" wing....that was the funniest **** ever since the wing was stock, lmao! Another friend of mine and neighbor got pulled over in his SS Camaro in front of the base main gate for "revving" at him while going 15 mph. Actually, my buddy was downshifting and the out of uniform cop pulled him over and stated that revving at someone here means that the guy that revved wants to fight. That's the biggest horse**** I've ever heard. Revving at someone means that they want to race the other car. Even that was out of the question since they were right in front of the gate guards and in traffic. Some cops here don't like the military that much.

They also pull you over and try the recon law for stuff that doesn't require recon
