I know on GSXs they did the back end when they did the regular oil changes... RMUDBUGS 04-18-2007, 06:30 PM I have not had it done yet. I work at a Mitsu dealer so the do all my maintance. silvercoupe97 04-18-2007, 07:23 PM Yup, the rear diff needs it's oil changed along with the tranny (manual) andtransfer case. RMUDBUGS 04-18-2007, 07:31 PM Mine is 2WD and the automatic tranny fluid is to be changed every 60K. 15K for the rear end seems a little soon to me. Manybrews 04-18-2007, 10:44 PM Dodge has had terrible times in the past of keeping their axles together. So much so that they created their own 140 weight synthetic axle lube. use NOTHING ELSE in the rear end, and change it at the correct intervals. RMUDBUGS 04-19-2007, 08:32 PM Mitsu list 2 rear end oils. A 75W-90 and a 75W-140. Both are synthetic. So I called the local Dodge dealer and they told me that they use the 75W-90 and only reccomend the 75W-140 for extreme uses (i.e. towing, mud riding). RMUDBUGS 04-25-2007, 02:29 PM I just checked the service manuel and it said to use 75w90 for the front diff. (4wd) and 75w140 for the rear diff. Plus the LSD additive. RMUDBUGS 05-16-2007, 11:15 AM Well I changed the rear diff fluid yesterday (20K). The fluid was very clean, with no metal. I think I will go a lot longer before changing it the next time. I'm thinking 30K to 50K. 60cdnstd 11-20-2008, 10:37 AM Be sure to double check your owners manual. I just bought an 06 Raider XLS with 18k miles. I was going to do the front and rear differential fluid maintenance just to be safe since the manual said 15k miles and I dont know if it was done. After a closer look at the manual I noticed that Mitsu put the severe driving maintenance schedule before the normal driving schedule. So unless you are doing alot of heavy towing or off roading you can wait alot longer for the fliud change. I dont have it in front of me but I think it said like 60k miles. Izzy351 11-23-2008, 06:09 PM So the correct fluids are 75W-90 in the front and 75W-140 in the rear? I haven't looked in the OM, but 15k sounds awfully soon. I would think 30k intervals on them and the tranny/xfer case would be "normal". FWIW, the Raider is the wife's truck, and I'm looking at the maint schedules now. BTW, what ATF goes in these? I'd like to go syn, and I run Mobil1 in my truck ('02 Ford F250 PSD). Can we run Mobil1 in these?? Manybrews 11-24-2008, 05:58 PM the synthetic 75w140 is the ONLY fluid to be used in the read differential on these trucks. RMUDBUGS 12-12-2008, 11:18 PM For the Tranny it takes ATF+4. If it's an XLS there is no front diff, they were all 2wd. 60cdnstd 12-21-2008, 07:10 PM ORIGINAL: RMUDBUGS For the Tranny it takes ATF+4. If it's an XLS there is no front diff, they were all 2wd. My 06 XLS is AWD & 4x4 nitrojunki 03-06-2009, 11:12 PM Has anyone heard of the 06 raider having a posi rear differential? I purchase one a couple of weeks ago and I just realized that both wheels are pulling together. I also notice a slight vibration when taking off in a tight right or left turn. This will generaly only happen after the truck warms up real good. If this is a posi rear what indication would there be stating this? If not, what kind of trouble am I looking into repairing this? RMUDBUGS 03-13-2009, 08:47 PM Yes, I have a posi. The 3.92 have limited slip and the 3.55 are open diffs. Izzy351 04-30-2009, 09:48 PM Ours is a DuroCross -- definitely 4WD and definitely Limited Slip rear end. If yours is chattering too much nitro, try adding a little extra friction modifier. Add 1oz. and try drive it some. If it needs a little more, add another oz. Don't put in too much at once, or it'll be a "Limited Grip", essentially making it an open diff. I've been thinking about putting a little more in ours -- every time you make a turn and step on the accelerator a little, it squeals the inside rear tire. |
