ECLIPSES ARE BETTER LOL!

To each his own:o) Last time I checked, eclipses do not come with all wheel steering, they only have a single turbo, and do not have an active aero setup. They might be better 1/4 mile cars, but there is more to life then a 1/4 mile. (Don't worry, I am not getting up-tight about your statement, I just wanted to put you in your place.)

lol first of all all wheel steering only works at lower speed and u have 2 turbos right than how is it that we can get the power to go faster ???? hummm sound just wrong.

sorry and about the active aero setup. you have to be able to go fast for it to work right. also it breaks a lot.

ill give u this. i like the instrument panel. but as for the system ill ahve to say its not imprssive. first of all u are running low power for the volume of space that the box is "less air movment" second of all u went with apline type-S. not impressed by the selection. im not tring to be an A$$ but that isnt worth the time and effort it took to buy and build.

I find it strange that I have never heard of this 3.8L 3S before. Do you have any more info on it??????

Yep, It uses the 6g75 engine that comes in the montero and galant's. It still has the stock SOHC heads(bore is 90mm and they said the DOHC 6g72 wouldn't fit, but aren't the 6g72's 90.1mm? or am i wrong?), and custom manifolds. Twin turbochargers, Super20G's, apparantly even with a rather square design, the builders said the power curve emulates the 6g72, with respects to being bumped higher. They stuck with 20G's because they'd provide good enough power in the midrange to be effective. I remember the horsepower numbers weren't that impressive, and the torque numbers were equally unimpressive. Other than those things all i can remember seeing was custom pistons, rods, stock cams, it had an emanage too!(i came upon this article while actually trying to find info on mitsu vehicles using an emanage). I didn't save any reference to it, I figured by now it should atleast be common news to someone. I know the shop wasn't Altered Atmosphere, i can't remember who they were. I know i'd never heard of them before though and figured the car was just a custom show car. I'll try and find the site, and post a link up. The car is a blacked out 3000gt, i'm thinking 94 - 96, and is pretty much stock looking except for the wheels. I dunno, i'll look for it again, i think i can remember where i found it. Anyways, hope this sparks your interest.

A fellow in NY was working on a project similar to that. I know he was using a Montero block and had bumped it up to 4.1L (stock would be 3.8L??)

Pampena Motorsports I believe is his shop name, but I don't know for sure.

SpyderGS

I guess that makes sense, perhaps playing with different cranks. I have a correction, The bore and stroke on the 6g75 is 95.0x90.0mm. Not exactly sure how to get 4.1liters using factory parts, but i guess anythings possible.

thestealth
12-01-2004, 11:14 PM
bore and stroke on a 6g72 is 91.1 X 76

I am not sure, but I don't think 6g72 heads would fit on a 6g74-5 block??

I am no expert though, so who knows. :D

I do know that the SOHC block will not accept the DOHC heads due to the water jackets not lining up, but the bolt pattern is the same.

Here is some stuff I dug up on 3si about projects Pampena Motorsports has been fooling with. Links to 3si as follows.

4.1stroker (http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=234062)
3.0L to 3.5L stroker kit (http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=234062)

The 3.0L stroker kits might help out the current generation of Eclipse engines also. (they are 6g72 also, aren't they) It is a work in progress, so we shall see how it pans out.

Yeah, well my 92 LeBaron owns all you fools!;)
I have the all mighty 3.0 Mitsubishi V6 that powers the 3KGT and Stealth under my hood.
MUAHAHAHAHA!!!! So what if it's the single Cam version and is downtuned to 140hp, my torque makes people spill their drinks when they ride with the boogie.:D Besides, I have high performance NOS stickers on my windows that add 50hp each and my high performance Sponge Bob air freshener. So HA!!![8D]

Not fair, you have the coveted high speed Sponge Bob air freshener.

How are we supposed to compete with that.:D

mesaboogie18
12-03-2004, 01:42 PM
Actually, the Sponge Bob air freshener I have for my 92 LeBaron is supposed to fit early 90's stealth's and 3KGT's, or any other car with the Mitsu 3.0 V6. It helped me run 9 seconds in the quarter.:D Just make sure you get the real SpongeBob air Freshener and not a cheap imitation from e-bay, you could blow your intake manifold.:)

I may have a slow car, but I know it is nice because EVERYONE gives me compliments that they have NEVER EVEN SEEN a '99 3000gt besides what they may have seen in pictures. You got a little personal when you started ripping on my car. My car is my daily driver-not my track car. About the Alpine stuff, If I was trying to compete I would have put 2 type-x's or w7's each powered by a 1000w amp with a full boston component system. However, I am not competing. Nor am I rich. I am 19 and make $1100 a month. I have a $430 a month car payment plus insurance and have to pay for tags every year. Wouldn't you say that I have done a lot to this car for only having it for about 7 months? I am going to laugh when I get my lexus IS300 in about 1-1/2 years with a 2JZTT powered FAMILY car and WHOOP your a$s.

you pay $430 a month for a 3000gt wow your interest rates must be high not caping on ya but is it worth it now that you look at it? and as for the lexus dude i respect that kinda car just beacuse they look bad assed with big assed rims and slamed to the floor with blacked out windows. But here is the question you have to ask your self would you like the lexus or would you rather have a 99 benz or a jag? hell if you look long enof you could find a h1 hummer for about 10-15 Grand. dont say it cant be done i have a buddy that has 2 that he got for 10 grand. just have to look in a rich neiborhood for one where they dont care. Oh and somtimes if it looks good it dont have to be fast its just bad assed.

oh and i wanst riping on your car i was imply stating that the space"volume" to power seamed off in other words you could get a more crisp clean bass for the power to volume. most people dont think about the box you put the sub in but it can affect how crisp and punchy the bass can be. before i upgraded my system i had 2 12" subs in a dual banpass box that was built to the specs taht the dealer told me to for best sound it only had a 400watt amp to it and it was not only louder than most of my buddys cars running 12" subs at about 1000W in the wrong box but more clear crisp bass. like i said in the post i want trying to cap on the car just pointing out a few things to make it better. overall it is a nice car but it alwase could be better all cars can.

m3kgt_99
12-26-2004, 12:35 PM
Thank you for your advice on that topic...however when I bought these subs, I looked at the specs and they call for 1.25cubic feet per side. I had a perfect box for them, but the problem was that they took up the back seats becuase the box wouldn't fit in the hatchback area. So, me and my buddy built one. I did the measurements and it is like 1.34 per side-- a little big, but that extra space will help when I get w7's or a set of type-x's. Right now my plans with this car is to lower it with an eibach prokit (1.5 front 1.3 rear) then pay off the car as fast as I can. I want to be able to do things to the car without worrying about making the payments. Oh, also, I bought my car for $19k and it still bluebooks at 21 (it only has 35k miles on it) I went from a '98 grand am (4cylinder automatic tranny) to this, so I thought this car was a lot better then it really was at the time. lol whatever... at least I bought a '99 though.

i feel ya with the pay it off as fast as possable. my car will be paid off a year after having it. i am like 5 months ahead in my payments. LOL for the same reason as you. i wont make major mods to my car until it is paid off. the only differance is my insurence and carpayment is less than your carpayment a moth so i can throw more cash twords future payments. One thing hate about loans the insurance they make you get it kills you.

as for car ideas:
Want to get a 69 camaro RS put a 427 in it bad assed car.
99benz with 20"rims jet black limo tint all the way around

Interor ideas:
Put subs under a plexiglass floor with neon lights have pannels in the trunk contain amps that will fold out when the hatch opens.
make my eclipse a targa top or t-top
laptop in the dash that will pull out of where the sterio goes "it will be the sterio"
all crushed velvet interior red and black.

Dream cars:
1994 Ferrari F50
99 Esclade
69 camaro and vett
cadillac sixteen

I think it is absolutely stupid that you compare the two cars, I have a 3000 gt, and love it, but that does not mean that the eclipse sucks or is worse you can take any car and make it beat another, not to mention your both driving mitsubishi's whitch means your on the same team, why bother trying to over due the other person, and kid your eclipse maybe fast but that doesnt mean it is not beatable bye a 3000 gt or a stealth or any other car, as an enthusiust you should know that you can build up just about any car to beat another, I have seen a video of a hyundai accent beat a nissan skyline, so all of you need to stop comparing, and or just race eachother, and then leave it at that....

The only reason that we got in an argument is because he came into the 3kgt forum joking around, (starting crap in good fun) but obviously we have a COMPLETELY different taste in cars. I HATE bling-bling rims and bass so loud that you can't hear the music. I LOVE bass, but it needs to be proportional to the music. NOTHING BAD against Get435, but we just don't agree on certain things.
Whatever...I don't care and I am not replying to this post anymore because I do not see a point in dragging this topic out and arguing about prefrences of vehicles or modifications.
