First post here, please be gentle! :) I'm planning on buying a new 2006 Eclipse (GS) tomorrow. I've already wheeled-and-dealed on the phone and have an appointment tomorrow to see the car in person. (I actually had them bring in the right color from a different dealership) Just have to make sure it's the car for me.

Now that i've practically committed w/ the deal, people are telling me that the Eclipse is a "chick car"! Geez!

What do you think? Is it a chick car? If the verdict is Yes, then would i be making a big mistake getting one, as i'm a guy?

i think the car could be owned by either... however i definately think that they look 150% better with a kit on them... but i would have forked over the little extra money for the GT

It's all in how it's done. If you do it all fufu inside then it's a chick car... Look at eclipses of the past... The new one looks different sure but it kinda reminds me of the 350Z which is DEFINATELY not a chick car...

I went with a chicks car because I honestly think that chicks look good in all year eclipses.;)

i agree that chicks look great in any eclipse, but i think that the 06 eclipse is a gender neutral, its all in how you make it look. people tell you now that its a chick car, but wait till they see you in it, they'll be sayin "sweet ride man!"

little off topic but I actually had a girl tell me my EVO was a chick car... I was like there are like 10 chicks that drive them and thousands and thousands of guys lol:eek:

4g Eclipse cannot be a chick's car! it's so big and fat, it's like a monster or a beast! lol

Just got my '07 GT a couple of months ago. Girls love the car. I also have an '01 GT and girls usually said something like "Oh, cool, this is the first time I've been inside one." "Can you teach me how to drive stick shift in your car?", haha.

Seems like the Sypder, specifically is definitely more of a "Chick" car. Definitely looks less masculine. The coupe, more neutral, and if its a GT a little more for guy, and the air kit will definitely give it a more "masculine" look.

Look at it this way: every guy can appriciate a Mustang. Mustangs are sexy cars, with big powerful engines, and they're pretty much regarded to be badass all across the board. But when a guy drives past a bunch of chicks in a Mustang, the chicks all think "that guy is compensating for something," whether it's true or not. The 4g Eclipse is a chick car, more or less, so when a guy drives past a bunch of chicks in an Eclipse, they all think "wow, that's such a pretty car!" I'm perfectly okay with driving a chick car, because chicks love it. Mine also happens to be a GT, so chick car or not, it's got balls.

Most girls don't usually care about the power so they will probably get a GS like me. And if you can't afford a GT then just add a throaty exhaust, rims, and a body kit and theres no way its a girls car anymore, honestly! You will get the girls attention. Trust me ;) Plus all the 06-07 eclipses i've seen driven around town have all been guys driving them suprisingly.

Hahaha. I totally agree with you. I made sure I got a black GT why I purchased my last two cars. My new 4G had to be brought in from about 120 miles, because they weren't any of them in the area dealers, Black GT with all the options. I definitely don't feel girly in my car. Also,although the Spyder model looks very nice, it totally screams "Chick Car" in my opinion. What do you think?

Even though Ive owned countless DSMs and 2 3Gs... Eclipses still can be considered effeminate cars... if theyre done incorrectly.

MrBodyShots I agree with you about the Spyder being a total girly car, I can't picture a guy driving that. So to all you guys take our opinion and don't get the spdyer, stay with a coupe so much more masculin (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1 &q=masculin&spell=1)!

A400whp 2G WOW, Thats impressive!!! I used to own a 99 Red Eclipse those are great cars!!! Is his cara modified GSX?

lol well maybe but its a beast...the car is a gs-t spyder...it has a T66 on 20psi with basically everything built. Solid badass car.

you've had 2 Eclipse's or 2 girls?

hes had two 3g eclipses...one was in the process of being turbod i think...and now he owns an evo lol.

I just bought a '07 Eclipse GS. I absolutely love him! I say they're gender neutral. One of the reasons they caught my eye is because I saw a hot guy driving a blue one. And as for the "stick" comment a fella earlier posted...I love driving my new honey's stick! ;-)

i say the new eclipse looks closer to a vw bug then a 350z. or even the new Audi TT's. Ive mostly seen guys drive the new eclipse's.

I think I kind of agree on the spyder being a little more girly, but I honestly think thats true in any convertable, as in like the convertable version of any car is less masculine.

Black GT for the win, i'm waiting to find one in black right now, getting really anxious.
