Help Pls!, Purchasing MITSUBISHI Shogun 3.2 DiD LWB
Hi,
I am considering buying a Shogun 3.2 DiD LWB.
Pls can I have some info on what I should look out for pls?
Also when should the cam belts and glow plugs on these models be changed?
It is a 2002 model with 50k.
Any other information as to what to look out for would be very helpful.
I hope these are reliable as I have never bought a Mitsubushi before.
Many thanks in advance.

A few things to look out for on a 3.2 Direct Injection Diesel
Rear heater pipes corrode, check coolant level is ok, it can lead to head gasket failure and is expensive.
EGR Coolers can fail leading to head gasket failure, again check coolant level.
These engines dont have Cam Belts there on Timing Chains and dont need replacing. Check for noise from the chain any rattles replace the Tensioner. Chains sometimes go resulting in valve and piston damage and stripped Gears. expensive to repair. The 3.2 is DOHC and is a single timing Chain, unlike the 2.8 SOHC which was a duplex chain. The glow plugs dont fail and shouldnt need replacing unless suspected faulty. The Dual mass flywheels sometimes fail and vibrate the clutch to pieces and act like a circular saw and chop up the bellhousing, check for excess judder on start up, they should have had a ECU re-write to stop this problem. Other than that watch out for the fast wearing rear pads and tyres wearing. The Auto's are the ones to go for. their a reliable motor, the faults above are problems ive seen working on mitsubishi for 8 years, they dont all do that. Do the basic checks though and avoid buying a problem car. The 3.5 V6 6G74 GDI Auto's are reliable and dont have any real problems.

Hi,
Thanks for the advance.
I bought a 2001 3.2 D-id.
It has 40k.
When should I replace the timing chain?
Anything else I need to replace around this mileage?
What is the best engine oil?
Thanks
