Battery light on car stalls, no restart
Hi,
I'm fairly new to fixing up cars in general so keep your responses fairly simple please, thx!
Started car in the morning reversed, braked and car stalls, battery light is on. Restarted car and continued driving, ABS light comes on, then off RPM and speed indicators diealthough car is still driving, instrumentsalternate on and off veryslowly, althoughmostly off. RPM guage also moves around like a compass.Radio dies, try to reverse and car dies/stalls. Un restartable. In a possibly related incident, the previous day the batter light came on while driving. Car engine then died. I checked the fuses and a fuse had been blown. This was then replaced. I had checked the fuses on the 2nd event.
Is something overloading my electrical system and/or is the previous event related?
Much help appreciated, car currently dead insomeones driveway=(

It could be your ecu, is it the one with the bad caps? Is it an Eprom?
Alternatively it may be something as bizarre as the ABS controller, thats waht went on my V70. Caused the same things, and then again the alternator could just be done....

That would be a symptom of a failing or failed charging system.
Check your alternator output, check the fusible links.
While running, voltage at the battery should be 13.5 -14+ volts. If it's below that, your alternator is shot (reiterating you Dusty ).

It is a Mits 98 eclipse GSif that helps anyone... how would i be able to check if it is the ECU?
So in short its either the alternator or ECU is what everyone seems to think?
and the previous days enginefuse blowing was the alternator overloading the electrical system?
Thanks for the quick replies!

2 daysbefore it went to a mitsubishi dealership for a full inspection of which no el;ectrical problems were found, the day before i bled the brakes and clutch, the same day the fuse blew. Either then that nothing else was done.
If you mean mods wise, nothings been done.
In its dead state right nowim wondering, if it is the alternator, shouldnt i have at least something electrical on? I'm going to try and rescue it today, im guessing I should try to start it with a boost and come armed with an electrical meter thingy (eg meter?) to test for charge. Anything else?? and what happens if it doesnt start at all??
