Smile serusaem aussie 3000GT

Hi to everyone, I hope someone can give this old Aussie 3000 GT lover some help. I am the proud owner of a 1995 Eclipse/3000GT. I have had the car for 11 years and had serious upgrades done to just about everything, but now I have a problem that I can't seem to get fixed here in Australia. The speedo doesn't start to work until I reach about 60/70 klmph then it is accurate up to whatever speed. I have found out from Mitsubishi Australia that it is more than likely the speed sensor on the top of the transmission. However they also told me that this speed sensor is not available in Australia. I have two questions. Is it most likely the speed sensor is causing my problem or could it be something else?. Secondly if it is the speed sensor can someone point me in the right direction to a place in the US of A WHERE I could buy the speed sensor? Any help on this would be much appreciated.
