Default 2004 Endeavor transistor or resistor?

My blower motor stopped working suddenly and I'm trying to replace the blower motor resistor but am unable to locate it (no ac in Arizona in July!).

I pulled out the glovebox and located the transistor just fine, but no such luck on the resistor. I got a schematic from the parts counter at Mitsubishi, and it shows a resistor in mid air without a home (86347). Anyone know where in the world this part is? Thanks!!

Default Resistor or transistir

You have one or the other.

Have you also checked the two fuses and tested the blower!?

Thanks. What I've done so far:

  • Tried a known working blower and it reacts the same way as the original; rotates a few times when you turn the car on but then nothing
  • Swapped out the front blower relay in passenger fuse box with the one above and below, but no improvement
  • Fuse @ location 10 in the engine fuse box was ok
I assumed since these can be eliminated, the transistor would be the issue?

Default Transistor

Since you have power, prob not a fuse then. I although there is one at location 19 or 20, I need to look it up. Can test the blower by applying voltage direct, but again, and using the swapout should be fine for that. One other component is the ecu, but the resistor is by far the most common failure.

Default Transistor

I just noticed you said fuse box in engine comp.
Fuses I referred to are on driver side, dash fuse box, just for info.

Yep, transistor was the issue, thanks for the help! Installed a new one and the ac unit worked like a dream. I was a bit nervous, because I knew I couldn't return the part since it was electrical. Is there any way that I could have tested the transistor without the risk of throwing a new part at it?? I know that someone else will come along with a similar issue.....
