Default 2004 Endeavor XLS not accepting programming of new fob

Hello all,

I purchased a 2004 endeavor XLS recently and it had a viper remote for keyless entry but it did not work. I checked the door fuses and they are fine. I looked for a valet button or receiver but found none. I bought a two button fob for an endeavor and went through the steps to program it. place the key in the ignition, jump port 1 and 4 where i plug in the obdII reader and press the hazard lights 6 times until the doors lock and open. The next step is pressing the lock button on the fob 3 times which i did but does not work. Nothing happens when I get to the fob step. I am not sure where to look and what to do. Can anyone give me some ideas on what could be the problem?

Thank you

Start by putting new batteries in the fob.

Is it a new or used fob? Are you sure it's the right fob for you car?

I bought it brand new and came with a new battery. I already ruled out the obvious, I am looking for the next step in troubleshooting the problem, like wiring, finding out where the receiver is etc

If the car is responding with the lock unlock it sounds like it's able to talk to the controller, etc. A service manual would tell you where the receiver is located...

Is it only a single fob? Sometimes parts just don't work out of the box... If it's more than one it's probably not that....

Thank you for the reply. I will have to get a service manual and check it out. I do only have one new fob but the old fob that came with the car did not work either so this leads me to believe it might be something else. I can easily go and have a pro figure it out and do it but where is the fun in that.
If I find out the problem I will post, and if someone has any other suggestions it would be appreciated

Unfortunately I don't think there's going to be much in the way of diagnosing this it's integrated into the BCM of the car and you probably need a MUT III dealership tool to get any info from it....

Looks like your have an OMRON C system in that car.

"The Receiver Module and antenna are incorporated into the ETACS−ECU on the back side of the fuse block in the driver's side of the dash."

Here is a TSB that might help you: http://mitsupartsworld.com/Diamante%...442a001rev.pdf

Verify the part numbers of the transmitters. The procedure you describe is correct. They do highlight press the button 3 times SLOWLY within 10 seconds, are you pressing then waiting and then pressing again?

Hope that helps.

Also can you post the FCC ID of your 2 remotes?
