Default Key Replacement Procedure

Hi All,

I recently purchased a use '03 Galant that came with only 1 key. Because of the microchip, the dealer wants over $100 to make a 2nd key.

I found a thread on this site that identified a source for a replacement key. My question to you is: with only 1 key, can I authorize this replacement key? The Owners Manual very specifically says you must have two. I just wondered if perhaps I could use the same key 2x while following their procedure.

Thanks in advance.

dude, suck it up and go to the dealer and let them hook you up with a new key and programming. gonna run you Around 150.00. all these websites telling you to do this and that and you get nowhere. there is 2 ways to program that key. one without using the mitsubishi scan tool and one with. still have to have the pass code either way. its takes about 5 minutes to program that key. another 15 to twenty minutes for the parts department to cut the key. so make an appointment AND SAVE YOURSELF A BIG HASSLE.

Jgbrules...

Thank you for the advice. I suspect you are correct, I was just hoping to avoid a large expense because money is a bit tight at present.
