Default P0441 Error Code

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant V6. I've had a few issues with the car. My service engine light came on and when I took it in to have it checked, the purge flow in the evaporative emission control system is incorrect for the current engine operating conditions P0441 came up. The first time it came on was after driving in a very heavy rain storm.

1. How important is it that I get this fixed?

One of my other issues was that for about a year I have had to deal with an intermittent starting problem. The engine turns over with plenty of power but sometime it just wouldn't fire up or if it did it would run very rough until I hit the gas. I have almost 60,000 miles on it and just had spark plugs, wires and timing belt changed.

I have run an 10% ethanol blend in my car since I've had which was brand new. I'm hoping that doing the above changes took care of the starting problem. Any suggestions or comments on running ethanol and the P0441 error code?

Thanks

Have you had any luck fixing this yet?
I had this code pop up this morning.
I us 10% ethanol in this car often, last fill up however was 91 octane with no eth.
I did drive in the rain for approx 200 miles on Saturday.

hello! the purge flow usually isnt a major issue. but with the symptoms your having, a stopped up purge flow system could cause that.the purge flow valve is on the front of the engine bolted to the intake. has 2 big vacum lines comming from it. the other working part of the system is the vent valve which is located on the evap canister on the gas tank. you have to have a scanner and go into test mode to active each valve, you can hear them click when activated. if both of those valves are working properly then there is a blockage somewhere in the lines in that system, or the port on the intake is clogged. sometimes this problem can be difficult to find. the dealer can fix this problem, and it is fairly common on most newer mitsubishi's. carbon builds up and can break off and go into the system and get lodged somewhere causing a blockage and not purging the engine of excess unburnt fuel. that can cause drivability concers. and they can get worse!! take it in today!!
