2002 Monter0 3.5 O2 sensors
#2
O2
I just replaced all 4. I had one bad and since it would not come out (hex rounded off) I had to remove the "y" pipe that goes from the left and right manifolds to the tail pipe.
Jack up the front of the car and safely put it on jack stands. Remove the skid plates. Look up. You will see the 4 O2 sensors, two on the left bank of exhaust, two on the right. Go to autozone or Napa or someplace and get an O2 sensor wrench/socket and try to budge them--you may get lucky. If not, take the y pipe out and remove them. When you reinstall, use anti seize on the threads and torque to 30-35 ft lbs.
If you shop wisely online you can get all 4 sensors for $100. I only needed one but replaced them all since I was under there anyway.

Make sure you use copper colored anti seize. It is designed for high temperatures. Most O2 sensors come with a little packet of it in the box. Also, take care to only put it on the treads and not get it on the business end of the sensor.
