Default 2002 Montero Sport AWD - Door chime problem

Here's my first question: The door chime doesn't seem to work for the driver's side when you leave the keys in the ignition or leave the headlights on and open the door. I have a good ground and the door ajar light comes on but no chime. I've swapped switches with the passenger side. No change. There is a chime for the passenger side, however. I have taken out the back door switch just for S & G, but noticed that it is a one wire switch (uses chasis ground for reference). Does that mean the two wires in the front door switch are for two distinct switches?

Also, is there a door chime relay that is fed by each individual door switch that could be bad? I can not find a diagram for it anywhere.

thanks
