Any high mile Montys out there??

Thanks for the heads up everyone. I am tempted to switch down to 87 just to save that $0.40/gal as I am not exactly getting Prius type gas mileage around town. And if there really isn't much of an issue, game on.

Just bought a '91 Monte and it has 240 and change but it runs great! fires up in -20 F, tranny could use a service but myself and other mechanics who've seen it are too scared, but it doesn't absolutely effect performance on the trail. A check engine light comes on randomly and ruins performance also sometimes it take 2-3 tries to get into reverse hahaha sounds rough but i only paid $200 and its a beast of a truck

I sold my 96 Montero a week ago with 236k on it...It ran great but was too old for me and I needed an upgrade, so bought a 02 Montero Sport 160k miles full service history! It runs great and is a 2 owner... the interior looks brand new and the exterior needed some polishing and it rocks now! It has a comfier and a smoother ride compared to the harsh and truck like ride on the old full size one.

97 Montero Sport 257000 on the ticker , only routine repairs. Runs great , would drive it anywhere as soon as I replace the T-Belt , H20 Pump etc. Did it 90 k miles ago for the previous owner. I really like the little suv.
Took it for a trail ride and it did remarkably well. Over the Rocks and other stuff.

1998 Montero 175k
Recently passed 175k with the 1998 Montero. Great vehicle still, runs very well. Everything is original besides timing belt and stereo/speakers. Main problem is lots of paint chips which I should be taking care of soon. Burns some oil, but only have to check every couple fill-ups.
The car has had some very rough miles in the Maze district of Canyonlands, as well as other off-roading in Utah and Nevada, but always works like a charm.
#1 tip: Change oil every 3k miles!

98 montero sport with 245xxx miles. Still runs well but my trans fluid is brown and burnt we'll see how much longer that lasts. It has been that way for the last 50xxx miles though. Thanks lucas trans fix! Anyways i love my sport. Daily driver.
