Any high mile Montys out there??

I just picked one up this past Friday for 165k, Good: solid transmisssion, great throttle response, suspension is better still firm, cold a/c heater works. Bad: Oil leaks (haven't looked into it), Brake, ABS, Engine Service Soon Lights are all ON. Other than that just normal wear and tear. It will be my overland project after everything is tuned up.

Greetings,
Have a Gen 2 1994 Montero SR DOHC, 125,xxx miles. Runs like the day I bought her new. Garage kept and dependable. Routine maintenance, everything original. I've rescued Jeep Rubicons and FJ Cruisers etc. My monty has never failed me, but I believe in preventive maintenance. These beast were over engineered and made in Japan. I've never changed a bulb in the truck. Wish they would bring back the Montero and Diamante! Diesel engine would be fantastic....
China recently reversed engineered the Gen 2.

Just got it, so I can't give much about reliability but I love this thing.

1997 sport 3.0L LS has 265,000 and runs smooth as silk. This was my daily driver up until a year ago when I bought a SHO. In 20 years it's had 1 timing belt, 2 tune ups, regular oil changes with Valvoline max life, new valve guide seals and cam seals, tensioner and water pump when the belt was changes at about 165k. 1 set of front/rear rotors and multiple sets of front brake pads. 1 set of front/rear shocks. It copped an attitude last year when I bought the SHO and developed an intermittent no start/stall with no dtc's so I threw a fuel pump, ignition module and ignition switch at it and it seems to be fine again. Cant bitch for a first model year vehicle.

Yes, 60,000 is the recommended interval for belts. I think I finally changed mine around 160K. I looked at it periodically and no cracks or flaws to see so I rolled the dice (probably a stupid move on my part but I got away with it). The freaky part was that the factory belt was still visually flaw free and pliable at 165K when I replaced it so I only used factory parts (belt, tensioner, water pump, and cog)
