Question Loose pulley

Have a 2000 Montero Sport 3.0 Crankshaft pulley loosened and almost fell off. Re tightened twice and loosened again. Took it apart and brought pulley, bolt and washer to the dealer. They gave me an "updated bolt" due to a re call in 1999 for the same problem....2000's are NOT part of the recall. Question: There is a 7/32" hole in the pulley next to the bolt hole, and a smaller dia. hole in the timing gear which line up when pulley is installed. Does a "roll pin" go into this hole?......Mitsu's schematic does not show one.......ALLDATA say's a CRANKSHAFT PULLEY HOLDER PIN is need to install the pulley........Is this just a provision to hold it still so it can be torqued down?? It seems like a simple fix if I can figure which is which.. Thanks in advance............Bob
