Post power window fuse - limp mode

so a while back My 2001 montero sport popped the window fuse under the hood (30amp) I used the A/C fuse (30amp) to try and get the windows up. as the windows were rolling up the relay under the dash fried! the wires were burnt up into the dash harness about 10 inches... I have replaced the relay and rewired the two wires that were fried with the relay. however, when i put the window fuse in under the hood (30amp) the montero drops into limp mode now. if i take the fuse out its fine, runs starts and drives like normal. but then I have no power windows (obviously). what else could have fried/popped?

Sounds like you have a short somewhere else. The wires may have gotten damaged further down the harness and causing this behavior. Did you sort out the initial window problem? Why did the fuse blow in the first place?
