torque specs
Hi all,
I'm new to the Montero world and have just bought a '97 Montero LS with 97K on it. I drove it 600miles from Ohio, where I bought it, back to North Carolina without any trouble. I really like this truck. It's much better than my Grand Cherokee and gets better gas mileage too.
Anyhow, I could not get accurate information about the age of the timing belt and decided to just do the full job right away. Everything seems to be in good shape, i.e. idler and tensioner pulley bearings, but I'm replacing them anyway. However, the back side of the old timing belt is covered in tiny cracks! It could be the original I guess! I made a tool to hold the crank pulley while I cracked the bolt with a 3' breaker bar and I made a tool that fits an in lbs torque wrench to set the belt tension correctly as these seems to cause people diffculty. I'd be happy to make the tool for the tensioner pulley again and post it around to whoever needs it if that would help. It's not pretty but it works!
Here's where I'd really like some help. Since there is no Haynes or Chilterns manual for this vehicle (I do plan on getting the factory manual and hoping to get one on ebay) I do not have access to certain torque specs. Could some kind person reply with torque specs for the following items?
water pump housing to block
water pump housing to thermostat housing
thermostat cover
crank bolt
I'm not trying to sponge off anyone, it's just so I can get this job done tomorrow as we need to drive it and can't really wait for a manual to arrive.
Many thanks in advance,
Reuben
