Default when the spf3 is unavailable and you're in a sotua

Is there a regular ATF THAT would be safe if you're a quart or two low, and the mitz special fluid is not available?

You can use anything that states sp111. (dont use replacement or compatible) I use hundai sp3 . Search all posts on the subject. They are not all in one thread,so keep looking. I & others have submitted a lot of info on the ones you can use and so has "a member "Joel"...x employee A/T man at mitsu as I recall. Chrysler atf 4 can be used too,but all others have to have in big letters sp111.
Come to think of it,the posts are on the other montero forum, whos name/ escapes me after a year since my last visit and a google didnt bring it up today.

I have a 1999Montero sport with a 4G92 engine and a R4A51 tranny, which is an Aisin Warner, not a Mitsu tranny.

What type of fluid should I use, the regular ATF +4 or the SP3 Diamond?
A mitsu A/T mech/Eng posted either. I still chose sp3 over chry atf 4

Whatever the manual says for the engine. Those numbers are not just made up. There is a reason why specific weight oils are needed. As as transmission fluid, I'd stick to MTF (Mitsubishi trans fluid) only. Call me paranoid, but that is the one that Mitsu transmissions like

I had my torque converter replaced 4 times and the transmission overhauled 3 times because of heavy vibration similar to driving on a rumble strip on the edge of the road. It turned out that it was caused by using the wrong type of oil. Take the advice below and buy genuine Mitsubishi oil.
