Why does it still Miss, even after new Plugs and Wires?
#21
Yes, it is MAF sensor in the photos. It is interesting that the engine runs with the MAF unplugged and it still misses. Does it miss more or less or about the same amount at the same operating conditions?

In the 5 miles that I ran it with the MAF unplugged, it ran about the same WHILE DRIVING.
It did, however, show a miss while at Idle. When the MAF is plugged in, there is no noticeable miss at idle.
Maybe, however, that's just because of my lack of sensitivity. (No, that's not what my ex-wife said.)
Driving today, I couldn't really point toward the problem being related to RPM or MPH.
I'll continue evaluating.
I'm thinking it could be the TPS... seems like more missing when the gas pedal is AT a certain level.
Now, I gotta' research how to Test that TPS with my Ohmmeter.
I'll try to do that whilst visiting a friend over the next few days.
Many thanks.

Thanks, Mr. Hunter, for that video. It was a bit difficult, but I watched the entire 28 minutes. That guy sure is full of himself. Some valuable info there, though.
I'm now 500 miles away. The CEL came on about 100 miles ago. Haven't yet gone to a Pep Boys to see what the code is.
I'll keep yous posted. Thanks.

That is actually good, because it may help to pinpoint the direction where to look. So far we were looking for a black cat in the dark room
When you read the DTS codes, make sure to record all parameters of the Freeze Frame.

I apologize for the late reply, people, but I thought I'd tell yous what the problem actually was.
A friend (who knows more about mechanics than I do) drove it around the block,
and he figured that the engine is running just fine. Nothing wrong there.
The problem, he surmised, is somewhere in the drive train. Either tranny or drive shaft or differential.
So, we parked, got under the car, and found that the drive shaft moves laterally very easily.
Turns out that the entire problem was the Carrier Bearing. I've never even heard of that thing before.
It holds the drive shaft, halfway between the tranny and the rear end.
The drive shaft was shaking / vibrating at a certain RPM / Speed.
Replaced the carrier bearing... problem solved. All is well.
Thanks very much for all of your input, people. We had a tricky one, here.
