Default 1st gear issues?

Hey all,

Have a 2009 outie 4WD v6 with 140000KM on it.

When just starting out after the car has cooled down, accelerating smoothly in first gear I sometime get a very lurchy acceleration (not a lag - I know about that) but this feels like it is slipping or something. However after the car is warm, it never happens.

Auto fluid has been changed as per the manual service schedule.

Thoughts on this? Does anyone else experience this? All other gears seem ok. Just 1st when cold is the issue.

Thanks,
Dave

If the symptoms go away when the trans has warmed to operating temps, I'd suspect worn/leaking seals in the trans. When warm, the all the internals expand slightly to make the symptoms go away.

I'll get a lurch occasionally if I start to accelerate hard in 2nd, it'll try to downshift...but then I'll hesitate or brake, which leaves the engine rev'd high but the tranny goes back to 2nd. Once it goes back to 2nd, I'll get a lurch.

hmmm so this might be a big issue then? It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen. Mitsubishi will do whatever they can NOT to look at this though as I am still under powertrain warranty.

Any advice on how to proceed?

So no one has any weird issues in 1st gear first thing in the morning? Everything is smooth for everyone else?
