Thumbs down 2007 Front suspension spring snapped !

Hi ,

Im new to this forum so maybe some of you could tell me if anyone has posted a fault like this before ?
I am a new Mitsubishi driver (ive always purchased Honda sorry ) and I have a 2007 Outlander Warrior which i purchased 9mths ago , ive never used it off road and dont carry any heavy loads and it has just over 20,000 miles on the clock and to my shock, the front drivers side suspension spring just snapped! I have since had it replaced to allow me to drive it again but surely thats not a good thing as far as quality is concerned? Will the other one snap soon too ?
Ive wrote to Mitsubishi informing them of my experience but im sure they'll just put it down to wear and tear and fob me off. I dont have extended warranty because i didnt think i would need it. Could this be a manufacturing fault in the metal used for the spring ? Im no mechanic but ive never had to replace this kind of part even on previous 4x4s surely this lifespan is really short?

Most likely micro corrosion caused by salty air

I was originator of above mentioned thread,....
It was not due to 'salty air,' I live 20 miles from the sea. I think it was due to cra# steel used in the manufacture. Definately not corrosion either as I treat my car regularly with 'waxoyl'

Should be relacing springs in pairs.

Will cause uneven wear and tear.

I got my 2007 outlander front spring coil broken last week too! I am in Canada. I don't think it's weather problem. This year is not too cold yet now. It must be the material problem. Is it covered by warranty ?

Red face Front coil spring snapped

Mine was covered by my Mitsubishi extended warranty. Depends how long your warranty lasts. Incidentally, they only replaced the one side that was broken... No ill effects.

Happy Christmas

how can you tell if the coil snapped or is about to snap? I have the same car and I'm hearing a rapid clicking when i make a sharp left turn.
and it felt like the wheels were unbalanced on the way home. i get an rapid vibration on and off, thought it was a flat or snow caught in the wheel but no of the above.
