2010 Outlander squeaking noise?
*Edited*
Hello,
I just bought a 2010 Outlander GT 128K, looks and runs really nice.
When I was driving the car home today on the highway I noticed something started squeaking/whispering on it.
It only happens when the car is warm, I need to drive it least for 10-15 minutes, once it`s warm if I go 40 MPH or above its start to make that noise. If the speed drops below 21-22 MPH the noise disappears right away.
It sounds similar when the AC or alternator belt maybe belt tensioner slipping and makes that annoying noise just not as loud.
However if I rev up the engine in neutral, it`s not happening.
I turned off the radio, AC, fan everything I could think of and if I go faster than 40 MPH it comes back.
It`s sounds like the noise is coming from engine ?
Did some research I know this is a different AWD system, but it`s sounds pretty similar.

Turns out to be drive shaft bearing issue.
I will try one more thing today, at 50 MPH I will put in neutral and see what happens.
Is anyone has any idea what should I check or test?
I am taking the car back to the dealer(Toyota) tomorrow morning since they sold it with their warranty.
Thanks!

*Updated the first post.
Looks like I might found the answer right here after narrowing the search down to "shaft"

"We've found the problem. It's a bearing on the rear impeller shaft that is causing the sequel. Only way to fix is replacing the impeller shaft. Now to find one that's not 1100 bucks. "

Toyota transferred the vehicle to the local Mitsubishi dealer where they confirmed that the driver shaft bearing is failed/failing and needs to be replaced however the bearing can not be purchased by itself, drive shaft needs to be replaced.
Car got transferred back to Toyota were they replaced the drive shaft in about 2-3 hours.
Drive shaft: $495
Shop Supplies: $60
Labor: $240
Total: $795
Issue has been resolved, car works without any problem.

I'm going to bump this as this sounds exactly like my issue!! We just bought 2010 GT w/ 98K on it. I thought it was a belt for sure!! So I had the Timing Belt and all associated parts (serpentine belt, water pump, idlers) replaced as they were due anyway. The noise is still there. We got the car with a 5 yr 60K mile warranty...so I'm wondering if this would be covered?? Has anyone else had this issue?
@33scott333 how is yours holding up? any other issues? I'm hoping to get many more miles out of this car as we really like it.

I would take off the drive shaft and take it to a drive shaft specialist to see if they can replace the bearing on it and rebuild any U points, it would be very close to being new.
Of course if you are stuck letting the dealer do it you are going to pay the MSRP price for a new OEM part.
