2017 is out
Saw a commercial today for the 2017 Outlander.
They have added blind spot warning and cameras all the way around. Also has Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Disappointed that my 2016 evidently can't be upgraded for Carplay. I know- they say it is a different head unit- head unit is pretty much cosmetic. These things run on Linux- nothing is impossible it is all software. Other than hard labeled buttons don't really see any reason other than wanting to sell more 2017's or not wanting to invest on the 2016 why it couldn't be added to the existing systems.
I remember originally it was asid that Carplay would be out in 2015. A friend bought a 2016 Ford and was told that Ford will upgrade the on board system to Carplay and Android Auto.

I spent several thousand on this one for the Navigation package. Hate to throw it away lees than a year later when a software upgrade could give me what I want/
I went through the build and price for the 2017 and appears Navigation is not an option or part of the Touring Package. I can understand that they have Carplay so you can use the phone to navigate, How about in areas with no cell coverage? Current navigation uses GPS- I believe my phone needs coverage to work.

Appears most of the physical buttons have been replaced by on screen menus. Also appears that navigation package not available (at least yet).

Aside from the stereo and all round cameras, is there anything else different about the 2017 vs 2016? Also, what trim starts having the cameras standard?
I noticed the manufacturer now offers 3,000 cash back instead of the usual 2k on the 2016 models. Which would you guys recommend?

Love my 16 and certainly won't trade it for a 17. Guess it depends on your priorities- 3K is pretty sweet

Of course, if you can afford it, go for it. My car was falling apart and I couldn't wait. So the savings didn't factor in for me. I got the $2000 rebate.
