Default Adjustable speed limiter - Outlander 2015

Hi all,

I was reading about the specs of the Outlander 2015 in Europe and saw this video:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t59-6-Hf00

Looking at my Outlander (Canadian 2015), the button is missing in the steering wheel, but I was wondering how difficult would be to install it.
Does anybody ever heard of this modification? I was not able to find any reference here in the forums.

I believe that after the button is installed, it would be a matter of activating the option in ETACS (with ETACS Decoder).

If not possible to install the button on the wheel, I would be willing to install it in other place, but need to know where to connect it.

Thanks in advance.

Usually those buttons are part of the steering wheel...
You'd likely need to remove the airbag and the whole wheel and replace it with a new wheel.

I don't know if ETACS has support for this button or not, try posting in the ETACS customization thread or on the ED forum and someone should be able to let you know if it can be done.

Missing buttons is a standard practice on lower trims.

There is no need to replace steering wheels, I am pretty sure it can be found as a separate part like DIY installation of cruise control buttons.

And yes, ETACS most likely have that setting available.

The only trick might be the special engine or transmission ECU firmware supporting this function - for example, UK 2nd gen Outlanders have ESS- Emergency Stop Signalling feature. If I activate it on my Canadian Outlander I get ESS error because my ASC/ABS ECU does not support this feature.

I can't understand why on earth Mitsubishi removed this.
As it is the top of the line here in Canada, the GT, I was hoping that all hardware would be compatible, except for the button.
I will order the cable this week to play with ETACS Decoder.

For the wiring, any ideas how to find this information, Vadimus? Is there a service manual available for this version / year?

Will install any switch to test and if it works, than I look on how to add it to the wheel.

Thanks again

I thought the buttons came as a unit with the wheel... Guess I was wrong.

So here is what I found so far regarding the wiring.

According to the EUR Service Manual (the only I found), Diesel motors (4N1) has the button while MIVEC (4J1) doesn't. I didn't find the manual for the 6 cyl MIVEC (my case!).

All cruise control buttons are directly connected to the ENGINE-ECU.
The missing button just connects two wires together (otherwise they would have a resistance).

So I believe:
- there will be no missing hardware apart the button;
- the button itself could be simulated on connectors C-303 or C-311 (or directly on the ECU connector)
- the option must enabled in ETACS (or in the ECU??)

Vadimus, any light?

Both I suppose.

But once again, no one knows if your particular engine ECU supports it.

Do you have Tactrix OP 2.0 by any chance?

Unfortunately, no. What would be the cheapest way to get it? Will it serve after this?

My Actia cable is on its way.

Will Actia be able to perform the changes in ECU also? Using which tool?

As per earl_vadim last post I thought that those cables were experimental yet, being able only to read info.
