Default Brake Fluid Change

Hi everyone!

I have a couple of basic questions about changing brake fluid on my 2011 Outlander ES. Right now it has about 47,000 miles on it, and so far all I've had to do is get the rotors machined.

1) Exactly which place is the valve to open to drain out the brake fluid? I looked in the manual that was posted online and couldn't tell. Can someone post a drawing or picture?

2) Does the car have to be on ramps or jack stands to do this job?

Thanks for your help!

1) get a friend who has done brakes before. Fluid nipples usually on calipers.
2) not essential, but you want the wheel youre bleeding off.

Thanks much! I'll ask my mechanically-inclined neighbor.

Pardon my lack of familiarity, but why do you need the wheel off if the nipple is accessible? Is it because of the corrosivity of the brake fluid that comes out, or is it just more accessible that way?

can you get a ~10mm spanner on to the nipple with the wheel on? if you have big gapped mag wheels you might, then go for it.
if you're spilling brake fluid then you're doing something carelessly.
more likely it will be more comfortable to take the wheels off as you do it.

google sucks, but perhaps read this:
