Default Diaqueen ATF-J2 Aftermarket Fluid

AMSOIL just recently upgraded the specifications on their ATF fluids.
You will find that the Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATL) in the blue bottle now sports the Mitsubishi ATF-J2 specification.

I give more detail about the update here:
http://amsoil.nesser.org/2013/04/ams...pecifications/

The application guide on AMSOIL's website hasn't been updated yet but the transmission product specifications have been.
FYI: AMSOIL does not currently have an ATF for CVT transmissions.

I'm excited for a new aftermarket fluid option. I've got a 2L of DiaQueen J2 from the dealership to use up and then I'll be using ATL going forward.

Now all I need is an $11.50/L Amsoil substitute for ATF-J3.

Doesn't exist yet but I'd suggest contacting AMSOIL technical services to ask for it. The Tech Services people are really helpful, will take a few days to reply though.
They track those requests for future fluid considerations. The more people that ask for a specification the more likely it will be researched and tested.

Done! I hope others needing a less-expensive substitute for J3 do the same.

Got a reply from Amsoil today.

"At this time, AMSOIL does not offer an ATF fluid meeting Diaqueen ATF-J3 specifications. Depending on the physical and frictional characteristics differ from our current automatic transmission fluids we offer, we may offer something in the future. If this fluid specification is a completely different oil than any previous transmission fluids offered by Mitsubishi, it may require a completely different formulation, and may not be available."

Not very hopeful, I'd say.

So the J2 is what the outlander V6 (6AT) uses right?
I don't understand why these transmission requires diaqueen fluids, I thought similar transmission are used in toyota and nissans

What is the price for the Amsoil ATL (qt)?

I have a 2010 XLS. The maintenance manual calls for DiaQueen ATF-J3. I believe the previous years of V6 call for ATF-J2.

You'd have to ask Mitsubishi exactly why they use DiaQueen fluids. Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer.
