I just bought this stupid cable and realized that there is no place on the back of my stereo to plug it in. FML.

Which cable? The Mitsubishi one, KCA-IP500, or the clones?
Maybe they have different cables for different regions.
I recall somebody using the Kenwood one here on their Outlander w/MMCS a while back, so it should work.

Default Which is the right cable?

There are many listings for the KCA-iP500 cables on ebay. There are two types, and both claim that model number. One appears to have some sort of converter box (see photos). Anybody know which is the right one for the MMCS?

Do they both work but have different features?

iPod port in MMCS backside is miniDIN type; both accesories in your pics seem to be DIN connectors, therefore wouldn't be compatible. . .

Bummer. This entire thread is talking about that part number pictured. Can the person who started this thread with the photos confirm or show the part?

well crap... I hope this is not true, as I just ordered the Kenwood branded unit from Amazon, along with the charging adapter. I guess I will post the results after it arrives...

It should work, I read that it is equivalent to the OEM part.

Nobody seems to have complained before...maybe they changed it after 2007?

This is getting confusing... JSRD, in this post, https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=34658 ,

you show the Kenwood kca ip500 part and the back of the MMCS with what is supposed to be an iPod port. I did, indeed, take my 2007 MMCS out of the dash to see what was back there, and it doesn't have the 13-pin connector like some of the kca ip500 parts listed on eBay claim. Mine has what looks like a 5 or 6-pin S-Video type port. If anybody can clear this up (original poster on this thread could help a lot), please explain. Is the Kenwood cable supposed to plug into that port?

I bought the IP500 kenwood unit and tried to fit it in my mates 08 Outlander UK Spec when we removed the headunit the connector was not the same as on the IP500 the one on the headunit was smaller like SVHS size the one on the cable was bigger, I have recently bought a UK diamond spec outlander 09 model, and the same problem exists. Mine has got the rear Video AV sockets and even this doesnt work.

So i can confirm that this thread as far as the UK spec MMCS units are confirmed is not workable.

I eagerly await a solution i have seen a video of someone with the ipod working in an evo on what looks like the same headunit i woudl love this solution.
