My front license plate fell off. I'm assuming that whoever installed the license plate installed the grommet in the wrong direction. I'm assuming the flanged end of the grommet is on the inside of the bumper. Do I access this area the same way I would If I was replacing the bulb on the fog lights?

 

the grommets that hold a licence bracket on work like wall molleys. make a hole just large enough for the grommet to slide in. as you tighten the screw the grommet pinches and expands larger than the hole. if its not holding its because the holes are drilled too big

 

If the holes were drilled to big, thats great..... you could put tape or something around the groment that way it is bigger to fill the hole better.

 

Thanks guys for the input. I suspect the hole is to big as i put in the grommet last night, screwed in the bolt and I was able to pull most of it out by hand. I think I might overkill it by taping the gromment up and also using an epoxy glue to hold in in place.

Did you go see if they sell bigger pieces to fit in? Would work alot better than throwing tape on and glue.
