As a note to everyone the roof rails on the 08' outlander are really just Thule 450R - Rapid Crossroad just incase you wanna save a few bucks you can buy them direct from Thule. These also fit perfectly on any gen 2 outlander

 

I think he means cross bars.... the roof rails are the black (silver on XLS) that go from front to back on the sides.

After looking at the Thule website i'm confused. It lists:

Is the 450Rjust the foot pieces or does it include the loadbars too? Bullet #1 says designed to work exclusively with rapid aluminum loadbars. Bullet #6 says the load bars come in 3 sizes. However,when you add the 450R to the shopping cart it doesn't give you the option to choose the size or vehicle.

It makes it sound like thefootpacks and loadbarsare two separate kits.

The length of the bar depend on the model and make of your car or truck. Thule or the one deciding which bar fit best on your vehicles.

 

Yes the brackets and the bars are sold as different items. At most locations that sell them in store they have kit specials that include both at a discount. They do this cause not only do the rail sizes vary from car to car but they are also sold as round or square bars. Plus there is also the lock kit. If you have a roof rack system with out locks and then drop a cargo carry with locks its kinda pointless cause you can just pop the bars off and take the entire carrier.
