Need help/suggestion from cvt experts
Hi all
Tomorrow I want to drain and re fill my cvt gearbox oil, but I'm concerned about that some old oil will be kept inside the gearbox and will be mixed with the new one. I got an oil sample of both and they have a big difference of color, the old one is like gold/brown and the new one is clear green. The new oil is genuine from Mitsubishi the cvt f J4.
So my question for the experts is, will it be ok to make this drain and re fill and then old oil and new oil will be mixed? Could it create any problem in the near future

Hi, just a quick update of my oil change, it went good, I could got 4.7 liters from it, and then I made the refill and a test drive and it felt more smooth than before.

Hi JRK5892
Unfortunately I did not take pics from the process I did since I was a little bit nervous doing this in first time, but I can describe the steps I did:
1) Start the engine and leave it in idle for 10 minutes, then do a 5 minutes drive.
2) Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the gearbox case to drain the transmission fluid in a container. It will take around 20 minutes the whole draining. I got 4.7 liters from it.
3) Put the drain plug back.
4) Be aware of how much oil you took from the the gearbox so you re fill it with the same amount of new oil.
5) Add new transmission fluid (Genuine Mitsubishi CVT fluid J4) through the oil filter tube. I added exact the same amount that I extracted from it. 4.7 liters.
6) Start the engine and make a slow test driving for a couples of minutes and then do it faster and make sure everything is working as expected.
7) Stop in a safe place and measure the oil with the engine running and in Neutral position. It should be between cold and hot level.
8) Enjoy
Notes: Color or appearance of both oil:
Old: dark gold, smelling was ok like regular ATF fluid
New: Light green, smelling totally different as the old one.
I hope this helps!
