Ok, bought my 16 year old a nice clean low(ish) mileage 2003 Outlander with the 2.4 and auto trans. Got home from an hour drive and found it pouring tranmission fluid from the radiator connection. I am going to bypass this as it is stripped, $30 external trans cooler kit from auto parts store. My problem is that the car is missing the transmission fluid dipstick. I hit the local junk yards and grabbed 3 diff length ones from a couple of Galants and another model all with the same motor. I would love it if one of you with the 4 cyl auto trans can go outside and measure your dipstick, the entire steel portion of it please. Do not include the handle portion unless you want to provide various measurements. Perhaps also the tube portion on the tranny as well just in case. I would like to be able to drive this suv this weekend and there is no sense in buying a dipstick from the dealer if I have in fact found a proper replacement. Its worth a shot, any help is much appreciated!

 

ok....anyone with any of the below, its the same dipstick....trying to not spend $30-40 (online vs local) if I dont have to and yes....I know, its ONLY $30 but why waste the money if I already have the proper part? Part number is MR967951 and when I get home I will check and see if by some chance its printed on the part but I doubt that will be the case.

Ok, never mind.....I just looked through the list and the ones I picked up are not even close in year range. I have ordered one online, if nothing else maybe someone will use this post as a cross reference in the future.
