Oil Change 2011 Mistubishi Outlander ???
Hi,
I bough my car in New Brunswick, Canada and use to change my oil every 8000 as per the maintenance manual and the dealer advice.
Also I always put synthetic oil.
I move to Alberta, and now they say I need to change my oil every 6000 km ???
Sound like they just want to make more money with me.
In my maintenance manual it say 8000 km between every oil change.
I just feel like 6000 km for synthetic not much millage really.
Let me know what you guy think.

I change mine every 7500 miles...have been doing that since 30k miles. I have verified this is a good interval for my driving habits by getting a Used Oil Analysis done. Here in the states, I use Blackstone Labs. I do not know where to get this done in Canada, though if you google "bob is the oil guy", that is a forum dedicated to oils and other lubricants.

Yes,,, 10 year 160k on the engine and transmission and 5 year 100k on the
bumper to bumper...I was referring to the 5 year warranty period. With regular oil changes
these engines can go for a lonnng time..but other stuff will eventually fail wayyy before
the motor ever would.

I am using Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil and Filter and I am changing the oil every 12,000 KM (7,500 miles), it makes no sense to change it sooner.
According to the label, this oil is good for up to 20,000 Km so I guess a 12,000 KM change is very conservative even in severe conditions. Even if the oil is a bit more expensive, I save money on labor charges since I don't have to change the oil more often.

Corbul, be careful when you read stuff like that. Oil change intervals differ from driver to driver and engine to engine. I've actually tested my oil and at 7.5k miles on Mobile1 and Penzoil Platinum, it is done with just a little bit of TBN left in it. If you are going to stretch your intervals, have a used oil analysis done on the old oil.

Thanks for the heads up ccernst, but I am not pushing past the 12,000 KM mark. Besides it is easier to do the other maintenance for the car since the service manual follows 6,000 KM intervals, 12,000 would be just double.
