What do you think about using synthetic oil?
NAPA (NAPA brand) has well-priced full-synth oils.
I recently bought 5 quarts of 10w-30 full synthetic for less than 22 bucks. THe prices are the same for all of thier full-synth 5/10w-30/40 oils.

Now since I bought this Outlander new, I just wonder if I should drive until 7500 miles before changing oil. When my Altima was new I remember changing oil after firs 2 or 3t miles.
Change the original oil at 1,000 miles. Yeah, you bought the Outlander new, but how long since they actually put the oil into it at the factory? Tha car was shipped, sat on the dealer lot, etc. Then you drove it for the first 1K miles, which counts as break-in.

Too bad German Castrol Synthetic doesn't come in 5W20 weight (actually says Made in Germany on the bottle).

Still you can get a nice Synthetic with a filter for less than $30 at major auto chains when they run specials. Mobil1, Pennzoil Platinum would be good choices. With Mobil1 or K&N oil filter is a good filter choice.

And then every 5,000 miles would be a good interval. Easy to keep track of too.
