Default torn between 2013 or 2014 Outlander

I'm torn between purchasing a 2013 or a 14 Outlander SE. Is the only difference the styling? It appears from my research the cvt and the 2.4 are the same fpr both generations. I prefer the styling of the older 13's. Are the 13 and under prone to any more probs that they may have sorted in the 14's? Has this already been discussed?

the 14 has better 3rd row, better mpg (aero) and auto liftgate (is it an option)?

The 13 tailgate is really useful, the S-AWC on the GT is really good..
Looks better IMO.
The V6 modes are now a proven design with a few short comings, e.g. gas mileage is not that great.

2014 MY is a step back IMO unless you get a GT version with fun and somewhat useful features like Active Cruise Control, LDW, power liftgate etc. Dual climate control on 2014 is nice yet to me split liftgate on 2013 seems to be more important.

No known issues of 2013MY were fixed on 2014+

The adapter cruise/lane departure/auto braking is like $8000 option, put the cost way over..

The V6 engine remains the same, but it's a pretty proven reliable engine

The 4 cylinder went from 4B11 to 4J11 newer version.

I was under impression the S-AWC got downgraded, but can anyone confirm?

Opposite. S-AWC was a bit enhanced on 2014, but that's minor software-only tweaks AFAIK
Same 6B31 was slightly detuned on 2014 losing 3-4hp.

I have 2012 and 2014. Both are SE models, 4cyl. I like 2012 much better for driving. Feels like it pulls much faster, more stable on the road. But i think insulation is better on new model. Interior looks better on the newone. Brakes feels better on 2014. Also 2014 have rear camera as standart option on SE. New model lost paddle shifters. Fuel economy is about the same. If shopping for 4 cyl model i would choose older model, for 6 cyl i would take new style.
