What kind of oil you put in your engine???

Edit, I still spent more than I should have if I went to WalMart and gotten the big jugs.

Do NOT use Fram filters. They've been cut open and found to use cardboard where other manufacturers use steel caps. Oil filters are getting to the point where manufacturers are rebadging to other brands. I doubt you could go wrong with OEM. I put a Purolator Premium on last.

where do you live?
if you maintain it well it should last double or triple of that. the engine will still keep going while the rest of the car falls apart with proper maintenance.

I like that "stealership". Think it was $43.00 for an oil change.

Saw some ads from our local auto shops, $20 for oil and filter+labor. I'm just a little wary of the kind of filter they use for $20. But with close to $40 at the dealer, I just might bite the bullet, or just get my hands dirty and just do it myself.

I prefer to do it myself and with the high mileage cars I've always owned/bought I use a full synthetic like Syntec. For the filter I usually just buy a FRAM or whatever name brand is on sale.
I think it's not so important what you buy or use but just that you actually really change it instead of blowing it off for months being lazy whether you do it yourself or not.
I found the oil pan bolt stripped out just after buying my car which is a common thing when people use cheapo places who use impact wrenches and don't give a damn about the torque settings etc. I re-tapped the oil pan and installed a slightly larger threaded bolt to match the new threading.
