Default What is this tiny 2122A PC-board for?

Hello, people,

Only after I bought (used) this 2007 Outlander XLS 3.0L,
I noticed this tiny little printed circuit board just inside the front right door.
Any clues as to what it is for, and why it is out-there-visible?

Thanks.

Well, thanks for the reply, ccernst.
I just tried those links... they worked.
I read somewhere that I could embed the pictures by hitting the
"click here to upload" link, but I cannot find such a link. Where is it?

AND, in the "New Members Area" / "Basic How-Tos" / the links like...
"How To Embed A Picture" are not working at all.

Thanks.

looks like you have links to a drop box file. just post the link and we'll get it from that.

The links worked because you're logged into drop box.

Use Google Drive, and click on the file and share link.

huh...that shouldn't be there. the only two electronic devices in that part of the car is the passenger air bag and the right front speaker. if it is related to the air bag...that'd be insanely dangerous. It might also be for an upgraded component/tweeter setup that filters out low range signals to a tweeter. Either way, it s sloppy work and you'll have to disassemble the dash a bit. the vent cover just pulls off...after that, you will likely need to find the body manual for '07-'12.

If you can take a picture of the opposite side, i could probably figure out what it is. It certainly didn't come with the vehicle from the factory, it's a hack job of some sort.

Don't use dropbox to host images, use imgur or something else because you can't post the image directly to the forum.

Thanks for the replies, people.
OK,... here are some additional pictures, from Google/Drive/Photos.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...Vg5blJTTUlTTTA

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...0g0RWgyQWJTTmc

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...TVSd0FmQW0zTzg

You can see... Red, White, and Black wires to it.
On the cylindrical shape thingy is "KSD" and ".25V".
On the other-shape thingy is either "MN" or "NW",
depending upon how you look at it.
On the PC board itself is "2122A" & "C2" & "IR1" & "CR".

Well,... I had a thought... that maybe this was a part of the
"Free-hand Advanced Security Transmitter" (F.A.S.T.) system that
allows me to lock/unlock the doors while the "key" in still in my pocket.
But the Owner's Manual says that the Sensors are in the vertical columns
between the front and rear side windows. OK,... this PC board isn't for that.

Any other ideas?
REALLY? An aftermarket hack-job of some sort?
But,... for What Possible reason?

Thanks for your ideas / time.

Darn... those pictures Still aren't showing up automatically.
Anticipating that drawback, I included the relevant links.

SO,... Is there a way to embed pictures in the posts?
