Default 1st gen headlights

ok so i want to put new headlamps in my 3S seeing as 1 burned out and instead of replacing the bulb i went ahead and got new headlamps (different backing, euro style black instead of plain stock, also 1 red wire and 1 black wire coming from the back) with H4 bulbs in them.. i kinda bought them before really knowing what i was doing sooo.. yeah. anyway i want to know are H4 bulbs HID's? And if so am i going to need any sort of different harness or anything special seeing as how i do NOT currently have HID's

also someone mentioned something to be about how am i going to heat them up? not quite sure what he was talking about when he said that but if anything i'd assume its because you don't want the glass to break after it's installed and such.

Basically what i'm getting down to is: I have the headlamps sitting in my car how do i go about putting them in my flip-ups and getting them to work correctly.?

I must say this, because I got pissed a little while ago when I dealt with new headlights. I bought two sets of different headlights that both claimed to be for a 3000GT. Chrome and Black, for me and my brother. After we spent close to an hour trying to get one set in with no luck, we then proceeded to waste another hour trying to get the second set in (they didn't appear to be identical or have the same problem as the first set). The holes in the back of the headlights were not in the proper location to be mounted on a 3000GT. It also appeared that if you tried to modify them (i.e. make the hole bigger), you would ruin the backing and they wouldn't look so hot. I bought these lights from a local retailer who told me they were a generic size and they would accept the headlights back if they didn't fit. Luckily I didn't get them off of e-bay or somewhere where people are more shady and less likely to return my money! I'm not sure if aftermarket headlights for a first gen. exist. I know there aren't Euro taillights, as I've been trying to find some for a while now. I have seen projector conversion headlights available from users on forums like 3SI, but those are more of a made-to-order type deal, if I remember correctly. If anyone has found first gen headlights that work (including those projector conversions) Let me know so I can get some!! Haha.
Good luck with your headlight install. I hope it works out better than it did for me!

Hey man. Just wanted to follow up and see if you got those headlights to work. If you did, could you tell me where you got them, as I'd like to get a set or two for me and my bro.

Thanks!

Actually its kind of funny. The ones i bought were bunk (aka not gonna work) so after seeing your post i got pretty discouraged.. BUT, you will love this, 3SX just put up 1st Gen H4 Conversions, picked mine up already and installed them, i personally bought the "Angel Eye" set they sell and the improvement is IMMACULATE i am very very happy with my purchase and i giggled like a little child the first time i saw the high beams at night. I personally couldnt find the link on the site that easy.. so the best thing to do is just go there and type "h4" into the search bar.. its the only thing that pops up! Enjoy!
